Giving away theatre tickets to disadvantaged children
Global Views – Commonwealth Publishing Group’s vision is to “ read the best of books, be the best of people, and create the best of society.” According to a nation-wide survey conducted in 2010 by Global Views Monthly on Reading Habits in Taiwan, Taiwanese adults spend an average of 3.06 hours reading per week, which is only 26.2 minutes a day. The older one gets, the less reading one does. It may be because of additional academic stress, job responsibility, and more time spent in watching TV and on the Internet.
In order to promote reading, Global Views – Commonwealth Publishing Group and Global Views Educational Fund have started to aggressively plan a variety of activities to get people to read more. For instance, we have held Forums on reading, reading seminars for teachers, and made numerous charitable contributions of books. We care about the reading habits of the general public, as well as the disadvantaged groups. We hope that through different means, we will help more people feel the joy of reading, and make a commitment to read and learn for life.
